Fabulous Friday Find

I've been thinking about my walls lately.  Well to be more precise, ART on my walls in fact.  I came across this amazing artist and her watercolour prints recently, just by fluke and absolutely love her vibrant and quirky prints.  She does a bit of everything.  From abstract to portraits, she is one very talented lady in my opinion and can I just say...very funky!  You can take a look at her website here to find out more.

These are some of my favourites of Marta Spendowska...you can't help but be happy looking at these!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

Fabulous Friday Find

This Fabulous Friday Find will speak for itself.  It's a little different in what I would normally post...actually-it's WAY OUT THERE-literally! It is definitely design worthy I guarantee and will have all you mid century modern lovers out there drooling!  I'm talking about a getaway-an INCREDIBLE getaway in fact-that I promise will have you thinking of booking a vacation faster than you can say the word!

I was perusing the itinerary of a cruise my mother has just returned from mid February and I found this particular site for the Hotel LA BANANE, quite accidentally.  I had heard of St. Barts (St. Barthelemy), but had never been there in all the many years spent working on cruise ships (wishing I did now!).  I had been to it's French sisters' island of Martinique a few times with delight, but never visited St. Bart's.  It is one of the most expensive islands in the Caribbean, and one can usually spot a celebrity or two.  The hotel itself has a very cool, vintage caribbean feel to it and is more like a villa than a hotel.  The moment you step into the airy lobby, you are greeted by a collection of furniture designed by Pierre Jeanneret which was in fact, designed for his cousin, Le Corbusier-architect of the city of Chandigarh, capital of Punjab.  You can find out more about St. Barthelemy and the hotel LA BANANE here. You can either choose French or English settings to view it as well, even though the photo's speak for themselves:)

Let's face it.  I think we could all use a little pick me up with all this dreary winter weather-today is no exception-so I hope you can enjoy this wonderful, beautiful, exquisite, luxurious & very colourful getaway and feel invigorated...even if just for a moment.  I promise-it will indeed lift you up.
Hey we can all dream right?!

Signature photo for the hotel

Lobby with classic mid century collection of furniture

Library with incredible open area to pool

Vintage vibe in the lobby with Pierre Jeanneret collection

Beautiful tile flooring, white walls and vintage furniture make this deluxe FERNAND bungalow a relaxing place to be

More of the same bungalow with gorgeous pops of colour on white walls...SWOON!

There are plenty more pictures on the website, so if you want to be taken away...go now!!

Happy Friday!

Fabulous Friday Find

Every Friday, I am going to share something new and fresh~a FABULOUS find~that I have stumbled upon. This is something new that I think you will enjoy as much as I love sharing it with you.

I am a lover of all things white in case you hadn't noticed.  I do find myself wanting to add colour in some way shape or form, or both perhaps, every now and again.  Everyone needs a little colour in their life, don't you agree?  So I am "Springing" forward you could say with this post, because this is just a fabulous find and of what's to come I feel in the coming months.  I came across these beautiful~no GORGEOUS~pillows & benches from Jamie Young.

Used with modern colours and patterns for today's homes, this "Suzani" collection was inspired by the fabric from the Silk Roads of Central Asia used for saddlecloths, tent flaps, cradle covers and salt bags.  Here are just a few of my favourites.

This is only a taste of the fabulous products from Jamie Young.  Check out the website (you have to register but it's worth it!).  Happy Friday!

5 Days Of Summer

With the start of summer this week, I thought it appropriate to give you a splash of what summer is all about in the design world...COLOUR!  Everyone should express themselves in their own unique way this summer with colour in all shades from the hottest to the coolest, indoors or out.  So for the next five days I will be giving you a dose of what you could do to bring colour into your life this season in YOUR own way and hope you continue to add it throughout the year.  It's not just for summer anymore!

Cottage Style In And Out Of The City

"A mostly neutral palette allows the view to be the star attraction"
MARGOT BELL, INTERIOR DESIGNER

We all remember going to the beach as a child.  For most of us, we are now taking our own kids there and reliving the days of splashing in the ocean, soaking up the sun, taking in the smells  of the sea air and making new memories.  But there is something stronger that we long to hold onto and that is bringing the calm, fresh, airy feeling into our homes all year long.  There are many ways to get the look and feel of a cottage, while still staying true to your everyday life.  Here are just a few.
