Fabulous Friday Find!

Ah...here it is, once again that good buddy ol' pal-Friday!  I don't know about you, but I REALLY didn't want to get out of bed this morning, but somehow I managed:)  Yes, it's all about the bed these longer days and nights & I love a layered, fluffy bed that you can hardly find your way out of...lol.  This is the dreamy picture that started the inspiration:

So today, for many reasons, I am really loving this bedding from Eileen Fisher Washed Linen Collection from Garnet Hill.  The colours are to die for and remind me of a retreat somewhere...ahhhh...

These beds make me happy♥

Happy Friday!

Fabulous Friday Find

This Fabulous Friday Find will speak for itself.  It's a little different in what I would normally post...actually-it's WAY OUT THERE-literally! It is definitely design worthy I guarantee and will have all you mid century modern lovers out there drooling!  I'm talking about a getaway-an INCREDIBLE getaway in fact-that I promise will have you thinking of booking a vacation faster than you can say the word!

I was perusing the itinerary of a cruise my mother has just returned from mid February and I found this particular site for the Hotel LA BANANE, quite accidentally.  I had heard of St. Barts (St. Barthelemy), but had never been there in all the many years spent working on cruise ships (wishing I did now!).  I had been to it's French sisters' island of Martinique a few times with delight, but never visited St. Bart's.  It is one of the most expensive islands in the Caribbean, and one can usually spot a celebrity or two.  The hotel itself has a very cool, vintage caribbean feel to it and is more like a villa than a hotel.  The moment you step into the airy lobby, you are greeted by a collection of furniture designed by Pierre Jeanneret which was in fact, designed for his cousin, Le Corbusier-architect of the city of Chandigarh, capital of Punjab.  You can find out more about St. Barthelemy and the hotel LA BANANE here. You can either choose French or English settings to view it as well, even though the photo's speak for themselves:)

Let's face it.  I think we could all use a little pick me up with all this dreary winter weather-today is no exception-so I hope you can enjoy this wonderful, beautiful, exquisite, luxurious & very colourful getaway and feel invigorated...even if just for a moment.  I promise-it will indeed lift you up.
Hey we can all dream right?!

Signature photo for the hotel

Lobby with classic mid century collection of furniture

Library with incredible open area to pool

Vintage vibe in the lobby with Pierre Jeanneret collection

Beautiful tile flooring, white walls and vintage furniture make this deluxe FERNAND bungalow a relaxing place to be

More of the same bungalow with gorgeous pops of colour on white walls...SWOON!

There are plenty more pictures on the website, so if you want to be taken away...go now!!

Happy Friday!

Don't Be Afraid

Oh the dreaded word....wallpaper!  We've all said it and thought the same...too much work and where do I start?!  The truth is, wallpaper has come a long way and with all the latest designs and so much to choose from, there is something out there to fit your life and style.  It can make any room come alive and can also be a great solution to a damaged wall that is beyond repair (as in the case with Toronto stylist Lara McGraw's guest room shown below).  Choose from classic styles that are sure to stick around, or if you feel brave enough go for BOLD!   The trick is to limit yourself to one feature wall and get samples first.  Check out wallpaper images online to get a feel for the scale.  One great website I like to go to is http://www.cole-and-son.com/home.asp  Use their roll calculator and hanging instructions and you're good to go!

Last But Not Least!

Day 5 has finally come, and to wrap up this first week of summer, I had to choose a colour that had lots of APPEAL...(no pun intended!).  Orange has come a long way in the design world, and the shades are endless, so don't be shy when it comes to this one, because it's not going anywhere for a long time!  This definitely has been one of the most colourful 5 days of summer I can remember and I hope this will be one for you as well.  A little colour DOES goes a long way, so add a splash into your life and I promise...you're sure to get addicted!

Everything's Coming Up Green

So what could be more natural for this rainy summer Thursday than to point out the obvious colour of the day...green. It screams fresh, clean, natural (eco-friendly) and serene.  Almost spa-like.  What more could you ask for?

HOT HOT HOT!

The first day of summer solstice couldn't have proven itself any better...what a wonderfully hot sticky day! I don't know about you, but I certainly welcomed it with open sweaty arms!  Full of life, fun and whether it's light, dark or HOT, pink can be used anyway you slice it...watermelon anyone?
